This is why my blogs do not get done as often as they should be, the Hills Fabric and Craft De-Stash has taken over, from small beginnings to nearly every month somewhere around WA an event is being held.
below are some of the pictures from the days we have had in Mundaring, Bunbury, Toodyay and others are being planned as everyone has so much fun.
It has been a long time since I have had chance to get on here and write a blog on anything, be it about clay creations, sewing or the de-stash events and even life. Tonight I am going to at least write about what has been occupying me the most, my de-stash events.
Well it is now a year in and I have held four de-stash events so far and they are just getting bigger each time, it is so awesome to see so many come together and help each other out in different ways.
We have raised money for the local bush fire brigade, helped out with collecting fabrics for a prison release program, made bags for SARC, and currently we are raising money and goodies for Cancer Quilts Against Cancer, it has been an amazing journey.
I could not have done any of it without of the amazing people I have had involved along the way.
We are now onto our fifth event in a just under two weeks time and also we have just released an event in Bunbury at the request of the ladies down there.
It has been such an amazing time that I can not wait to tell you all about how the next one pans out.
And I shall try very hard to update my blog at least monthly with clay and sewing works for your enjoyment.
It’s on again, this is our second one for the year and it is shaping up to be another big one. Hope to see you there as either a buyer or seller. We will be at Morley Rec Centre the Wellington Room on the 20th August, check out the website or FB page for more details.
Big shout out for a wonderful photo shoot done by the lovely Terri of Verandah Portraits what a fun time we had doing these, and how good is she, you can not see one goosebumps that I had going, on a day of chill factor 3.
Terri is a local gal, and as many of you know I promote shop local and help each other along the way.
So go check her out and see what she can do for you.
Okay it has been a few weeks since we had the major fires take out our back yard two of our neighbours yards and 56 homes of local people (I still hurt thinking about them all, only consolation is everyone is alive) When I look around, not just at our area but everyone’s else’s I have been feeling depressed about it all and not getting back into anything I class as normal, so I thought if I wrote a little about it all I may get to a space I can start looking at doing what I love again.I thought looking at some of the damage as it was will remind me how far along we have come and also as a reminder that we could have been worse of and I must look at the bright side. The good is yes we are still here…yay….even better is that the community as whole has been incredible, it has bought our street together more and we have been able to help others out.
This the side of our pool area, with one pool chair melted into the ground, now I can tell you trying to clean that of the pavers was an interesting experience.
This is us putting balloons up (I did the whole street) to say thank you to the firefighters, an amazing sight to see all over the hills area.
This is what we see from the back of our place, quite different from what it was before.
The green has gone, but I know it will regrow, maybe not as lush as before due to a lot of trees and bushes being cut down, but green will be.
