Busy Busy Hills Fabric and Craft De-Stash, one year on.

It has been a long time since I have had chance to get on here and write a blog on anything, be it about clay creations, sewing or the de-stash events and even life. Tonight I am going to at least write about what has been occupying me the most, my de-stash events.

Well it is now a year in and I have held four de-stash events so far and they are just getting bigger each time, it is so awesome to see so many come together and help each other out in different ways.

We have raised money for the local bush fire brigade, helped out with collecting fabrics for  a prison release program, made bags for SARC, and currently we are raising money and goodies for Cancer Quilts Against Cancer, it has been an amazing journey.

I could not have done any of it without of the amazing people I have had involved along the way.

We are now onto our fifth event in a just under two weeks time and also we have just released an event in Bunbury at the request of the ladies down there.

thumbnail_hills-fabric-cdIt has been such an amazing time that I can not wait to tell you all about how the next one pans out.

And I shall try very hard to update my blog at least monthly with clay and sewing works for your enjoyment.

Mans Shirt

Well after the last de-stash event, I picked up this glorious fabric for myself, well guess what the other half spotted in and said “could I have a shirt from it”, how could I say no, so out came Simplicity 9469 again, along with a new collar that I drew up. Now this is not quite finished, but it is getting there, all the hems have been done by hand as I had to fill time when sitting in the hospital awaiting a child from surgery. All that is left to do is the buttons and button holes.

Should be another two or three weeks to get that done, I said to myself and guess what I managed to carve out some time today and it is now finished.

Hills Fabric De-Stash Morley

GetAttachment.aspx copy 2It’s on again, this is our second one for the year and it is shaping up to be another big one. Hope to see you there as either a buyer or seller. We will be at Morley Rec Centre the Wellington Room on the 20th August, check out the website or FB page for more details.

Simplicity 9469 Shirt

Okay it is cut out (one thing I did not notice was the print ran sideways and because of the fabric it now runs across his chest, not to happy with that), and that is all I can say, I do have a deadline though to finish it by though, so best get cracking about the rest of my cutting jobs, so I can just sew sew sew and sew.

Glad to say that deadline now extended.

Another Apron

So a mans apron or a womens apron, you decide, I know I love both concepts and I love the use of gorgeous denim (and this lot came from a de-stash from a hand maiden Heart-To-Hand) and then the stitching I am in awe of it, it came out even better than I had hoped, a deep pocket is always a must, leatherette on the corners for decoration and beautiful cotton on the back.

This one you will find on the website as well very shortly.

Please let me know what you think of this latest addition.

Womens Apron Request By My Son For Nanna

So coming up in a few days is my mothers birthday and my little man (master 11) said “can we make her one of your aprons as she hasn’t got one mum” gulp “yes of course we can go look through my fabrics and sort out some you think she would like” so of he goes, fabric all over the floor (apparantly not all over the floor, I forgot the chair as well), my ordered chaos no more, oh well that can be fixed.

These are the fabrics that he chose (all vintage peices out of my stash) and what a combination, think it looks great, now for the big test, sending it to her. Should I get him to make a card as well?

New Aprons (Potters Inspired)

I have been working on some new designs of late, and this is one that am particularly proud of the very dressy potters apron. This apron is double sided and made using my own pattern and constructed from glorious denim and cotton with faux leather for details.

Who said that we can not look superb when playing with clay?

This apron will appear on my website soon, so keep your eyes open and snap it up fast.
