Busy Busy Hills Fabric and Craft De-Stash, one year on.

It has been a long time since I have had chance to get on here and write a blog on anything, be it about clay creations, sewing or the de-stash events and even life. Tonight I am going to at least write about what has been occupying me the most, my de-stash events.

Well it is now a year in and I have held four de-stash events so far and they are just getting bigger each time, it is so awesome to see so many come together and help each other out in different ways.

We have raised money for the local bush fire brigade, helped out with collecting fabrics for  a prison release program, made bags for SARC, and currently we are raising money and goodies for Cancer Quilts Against Cancer, it has been an amazing journey.

I could not have done any of it without of the amazing people I have had involved along the way.

We are now onto our fifth event in a just under two weeks time and also we have just released an event in Bunbury at the request of the ladies down there.

thumbnail_hills-fabric-cdIt has been such an amazing time that I can not wait to tell you all about how the next one pans out.

And I shall try very hard to update my blog at least monthly with clay and sewing works for your enjoyment.

DSCN1796 I so love this pattern it allows for a personal freedom in what you do to a simple angle wrap, this time I have used a linen (from an op shop stash (buy) ) and the eagle in black came from a jumper my partner no longer liked (I did) and the brown silk is left over from a blouse I made for my mother in law.

DSCN1795This is the front view, and as you can see it has the other sides longer than the front or back, it creates a lovely swirl as you walk.

DSCN1797And this is the pattern that I used.

Christmas Dress Newlook K6181

DSCN1721This is my Christmas dress that I have just completed, it is from Newlook Workroom K6181, it is  a Project Runway dress that I liked the look of.

I changed the collar line as it was to high up for me and the shape was just not it. The fabric came from a garage sale and cost me $2, and the lace came from a girlfriend destashing so all I had to get myself was some thread to match, happy days.

Love the use of old lace on old fabric, not happy with pattern sizing as it said to my size use a 14 really should have used an 18 for ease.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Newlook 6190 part three

IMAG0659Now that’s got you all wondering seeing a piece of fabric like this come up for that pattern again Newlook 6190, well rest assured as much as I love this fabric and have used it to make PJ bottoms I can not see me wearing this out in every day…this is in fact the lining for the waistband on the black pair I have just made.

IMAG0673Ta da finished, and yes that is three buttons one side and two the other, deliberately done, after all I am slightly (I can hear the other half laughing) of center with my world.

Trouser’s New Look 6190 part two

DSCN0432Now I have made one pair of these..NewLook 6190 and I do like them a lot so why not make another pair..

IMAG0653Yes I should iron them before I take my photo’s, but hey that takes time away from sewing again.

IMAG0652I also lined the waist band with some gorgeous craft fabric I had left, after all I get to see this piece so why not make it cute.

So should I make another pair, maybe in a safe black, could do with a pair like that.

Thought it time I did something for me again, instead of shifting a few tonne of rock or moving dead trees and bushes or unpacking and repacking boxes, drawing designs only to throw them out again, so sewing it is for me a pair of wide legged pants are a must as not a fan of jeans and the one pair I do like have just diedImageWell I have cut them out so far..

ImageSee why I love this fabric, better than a pair of jeans anyday…

ImageYes cut out, fingers itching to sew…

ImageImageYes I have been sewing at quite a rate, want to get these done..

DSCN0445Well finished in record time and being worn as well, next pair I will take the waist in some more as these are a tad to big, I need a belt (does this mean I am loosing weight!!!!! please no)
