Busy Busy Hills Fabric and Craft De-Stash, one year on.

It has been a long time since I have had chance to get on here and write a blog on anything, be it about clay creations, sewing or the de-stash events and even life. Tonight I am going to at least write about what has been occupying me the most, my de-stash events.

Well it is now a year in and I have held four de-stash events so far and they are just getting bigger each time, it is so awesome to see so many come together and help each other out in different ways.

We have raised money for the local bush fire brigade, helped out with collecting fabrics for  a prison release program, made bags for SARC, and currently we are raising money and goodies for Cancer Quilts Against Cancer, it has been an amazing journey.

I could not have done any of it without of the amazing people I have had involved along the way.

We are now onto our fifth event in a just under two weeks time and also we have just released an event in Bunbury at the request of the ladies down there.

thumbnail_hills-fabric-cdIt has been such an amazing time that I can not wait to tell you all about how the next one pans out.

And I shall try very hard to update my blog at least monthly with clay and sewing works for your enjoyment.

Gazebo Cover Finally Done

DSCN1611Now I hope my daughter is pleased as this is what she is after for her birthday (21st), the gazebo has a new cover and curtains hanging down from inside, including lace ones. The chairs have new cushion covers

The whole pool area has had a revamp and is ready for the pool party that is coming up in less than two weeks (gulp).

Outdoor Setting New Mattress and Cushion

DSCN1528I bought this fabulous outdoor chair for our yard a few months back from Lee Potter Artist and his lovely wife Sharon of Sharon Peterkin Artist (as well), both do some incredible work and am pleased that they are local artists in Perth.

So they hunt began for outdoor fabric, and I must admit there is not much out there unless you want to spend a lot of money and I did not, so i started trawling the destash sites hoping for something to come up, and guess what a very old table-cloth came, and all in the colours that I was after for this area, so scissors and sewing machine came out after getting a caravan mattress that fit perfectly for dimensions, and hey presto it looks great, I am so pleased with this one, and who would have thought to look at it, it was once a tablecloth.

Outdoor Cushion Covers

DSCN1538The other half took me fabric shopping the other day, yes you heard right he took me fabric shopping (something to do with he had to carry it), so of we went hunting for outdoor fabric, I had an idea in mind of what I wanted being colour of lime green, purples, red’s so I end up with black and white and lime green and white, of course.

And yes I know the dead weeds need dealing with, that is this weekends job, one of many.

DSCN1532Now these are the two fabrics that came home with us, both outside of what I thought I would pick and both work so well.
